Us again! It’s Furnace Record Pressing’s latest edition of The Boiler Room!
Happy Spring! The season is welcomed annually at FRP by celebrating Record Store Day, catching birds that fly in through the open bay doors (much to the delight of Slippy & Tibby) and this year by supporting our local music scene via the Wammies.
This spring, we’re also saying goodbye to some of our OG colors (we willl never 4get u trans salmon) and welcoming some new hues. Help us name them and win some Furnace swag!
You read that right! Please spare a moment of silence and pour a 40 out for Opaque Aqua, Transparent Violet and Transparent Salmon who are shuffling off the mortal coil of our PVC color wonderland.
While we’ve already bid adieu to Opaque Aqua, Transparent Salmon and Transparent Violet are still circling the drain. From now until it’s gone, you can press on either of these tragically misunderstood hues and we’ll waive the color setup fees.
But Furnace, you might say to yourself, I really want to press on one of your retiring colors but I’m not ready yet. Do not despair; you may be the first to press on one of our brand new colors!
We are rolling out three new PVC colors and better yet, you get to name them!
Cast your vote on new names here– we’ll send our winners some premium merch fresh from the shop! If you want to press on a new color, head on over to get a quote here, and let us know what you have in mind (be sure to let us know if you want one of our new or old colors)!
Recently one of our favorite clients (you’re one of our favorites, too) came to us with an dream of graphic printing on a vinyl record— more than a label but less than a picture disc; could we print on the PVC itself? Our team put our heads together and ✨abracadabra✨— screen printed vinyl.
We debuted this super-cool, DIY-esque offering on a very fun, limited-release Record Store Day 7” box set for Wiz Khalifa. “Loud Pack” features five distinct 7” EPs, each pressed on one of Furnace’s proprietary color blends, with custom screen printing on two records’ reverse sides. Each EP is packaged in a full-color 7” jacket and dust sleeve, all wrapped up in a 2-color, 18pt, double-wall slipcase featuring embossing and a zebra-print spot matte.
We like to think we’re experts at helping create a unique package for your project and our team can help you bring your vision and ideas to life with options to fit all budgets. Drop us a line!
This year, we celebrated music in a big way on April 20th, by splitting our time between Record Store Day and the DMV-area Wammie Music Awards. Furnace is committed to supporting local musicians and music resources.
Celebrating its seventeeth year, Record Store Day celebrates independent brick-and-mortar record stores and their loyal patrons every spring and again on Black Friday in November. This year, we visited our local friends Mobius Records of Fairfax, VA to indulge in their festivities. We are excited to report lines full of vinyl-loving individuals hoping to pick up RSD exclusives stretched around the block. We’re gearing up for Black Friday so get in touch!
We also celebrated the region’s finest artists at the 36th annual Wammie Awards. The event was held at Capital One Hall and celebrated the achievements of local artists in over 40 categories. The Wammies are presented by The MusicianShip, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused promoting music education in the region.
Of particular note, Furnace friends Oh He Dead went home with Best Pop Artist-Group and Best Pop Album for “Pretty”; DC Special walked away with Best Punk Album; and Flowerbomb was awarded Best Rock Artist-Group. Go check them out if you haven’t!
You MAY hear from us soon!
